Establishing Accountability and taking faster decisions with Unifize

Tedd Carr expresses how Unifize transformed The Will-Burt Company's approach to quality management. The previous system, a chaotic mix of emails and ad-hoc methods, lacked clear ownership and accountability, leading to prolonged issue resolution times. With Unifize, they have consolidated five systems into one, establishing defined accountability and enabling rapid task completion—what once took weeks or months now concludes in days, significantly optimizing their operational efficiency.

Another drawback to these multiple systems is not having a solid way of establishing ownership and accountability.

00:08 - 00:37
You know, in one example, our non conformances were distributed strictly through an email blast, so a non conformance would be written and it would go out to a host of people and basically everyone on the email became the owner or actually no one became the owner and it would take a lot of effort to keep things moving, to keep the conversation going, to address the issues relative to the non conformance.

00:37 - 00:55
And then when you would get feedback, it would come through many different responses. Sometimes a text message, a phone call, it could be through an email, but it really wasn't any way to pull all this information together and to look at that and make a decision to keep, to keep moving forward.

00:55 - 01:01
So in other cases, the right people were left out of the conversation.

01:01 - 01:26
And again, this would just kind of drag things out and, additionally, you would end up on this email blast. You would have people on there that really had no value to add to the conversation. So ultimately, for them to to read it and to review it was really just wasted time. They couldn't add value to the conversation.

01:26 - 01:39
We've now reduced our number of quality support systems from what was five different systems. It's now consolidated into one platform, which is Unifize.

01:39 - 01:56
And regardless of that activity or that task, they all have very clear assigned ability and accountability. That's something we were really missing in our, in our old systems. And again, that just drives a really solid behavior on getting, on getting issues closed.

01:57 - 02:10
Our tasks that have taken weeks or months are now completed in days. And we just know that as we mature, we'll continue to see improvements in the efficiency of the effectivity of what the software can do for us.

02:10 - 02:17
We've already had conversations that have launched and then closed all in the same day. And for us that's just unheard of.

But what we've known from what I experience was, is we were able to get there with the system. We still there with the system. The system has what is needed to provide us what we're looking for, because every company, admittedly, is trying to get compliant. If we educate people, if we get people the education that they need and to get over the fear factor, I think 90% of those things can be resolved because most people will go to what they're most familiar with. What I worked with from a different company, but they're not willing to sit down and look at what the demographics are saying. People are into social media now. People are moving fast into fast paced world. But technologies are still antiquated. So there's a disconnect here, right? So while we're moving at a fast pace at home with dragging at work, so why can't we continue that speed while we at work?If your supplier has issues and you're not informed on time, you want to have an alternate supplier in place. If your suppliers are not qualified, you may not know that that needs to happen. And so when you have an integrated system that speaks to itself and is giving you all this data, you literally have the pulse of the organization in your hands as an executive at a money bound access.
